Ce nigérian d’origine s’est d’abord construit en Live aux USA, où peu à peu il invite des noms connus comme De La Soul, Speech d’Arrested Development, Bahamadia, Rich Medina ou encore Zion. Ajoutez à ce beau monde des chanteurs anglais Eska et Vula, et vous obtenez l’un des courants de musique black les plus abouti avec les albums Upward en 2003 et Closer, le sommet d’une carrière qui n’en finit pas de repousser ses propres limites. Unanimement salué par la presse et le public. Le son hip hop groovy de Ty est sans doute le plus abouti de la scène actuelle. Sa formation live avec son full band n’est pas en reste et partout ou Ty se produit, le public s’en souvient encore.

Drumpatterns affûtés et visionnaires, basslines franchement barrées, usage savamment distillé d’instruments électroniques, c’est de la pure danse universelle, sur des thèmes très recherchés.
