Side woman appréciée (Julien Lourau, Gerald Toto, Melvin Van Peeble, Shalark, China, etc.), elle vient de sortir Mansaadi, son premier album solo. De la soul et du jazz, de l’Afrique matinée d’Europe, une voix profonde et généreuse qui donne tout sur scène, jusqu’à la moindre miette. La découverte classée grand cru 2008 du festival !

She is multi-facetted and multi-cultural: Born in Cameroon, she now lives in Paris. She is a singer and surely a songwriter. A full-blooded actress but also an appreciated side woman (Julien Lourau, Gerald Toto, Melvin Van Peeble, Shalark, China, etc.). And she has just released Mandsaadi, her first solo album. This one too is diverse, ranging from soul to jazz, from Africa to Europe thus emphasising her stunning voice, which reaches its full potential on stage. Sandra Nkake is this festival’s discovery of the year.

Fondé en 2007, Zeroklub se distingue par le mélange des genres et des instruments. Trompette, vibraphone, samples et cuts de vynils, sons vintages, voix hip hop américaine, section basse-batterie compacte, telle est la recette du son unique de Zeroklub, qui se vit en live comme une expérience saisissante et unique. On peut chercher longtemps les références de ces 7 musiciens expérimentés, amenant tous leur identité musicale. Le
groupe ne se limite pas à une écriture stylistique monomaniaque, mais tend radicalement à écrire en fonction du son du groupe. Zeroklub a enregistré deux titres en Septembre 2007 et s’apprête à reprendre le chemin des studios pour capturer quelques nouveaux morceaux, fruits d’une alchimie collective, à laquelle le public de Contre-Temps ne sera pas étranger…

What makes Zeroklub so coherent is the mix of styles as well as their instruments, which add that very particular touch to their original compositions. Trumpet, vibraphone, samples and vinyl cuts, vintage sounds, American hip hop voices, a compact drum’n’bass section : those are the ingredients of the unique sound of Zeroklub. Live they are a stunning experience, explosive, impressive, cinematic. The musical universe of Zeroklub is tight, indeed. Looking for musical references will be in vain: The seven musicians really write their own music. Right there, in front of you, everyone brings in their own musical identity – modern and contemporary – with no fear of mingling genres. No fear either of pushing their instruments towards sometimes quite unexpected registers. For Zeroklub there are no limits and surely no monomaniac stylistic writing.  After having recorded their last two songs in September 2007, Zeroklub is just about to re-attack the studios to capture some new tunes, fruits of a collective alchimy.
